The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday slammed former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar over his recent statements regarding middle order batsman and has announced to take legal action against Akhtar.
“The PCB is disappointed with Shoaib Akhtar’s poor choice of words while publically commenting about the PCB’s legal department and its legal advisor,” read a statement issued by PCB.
“The language used by Shoaib Akhtar was highly inappropriate and disrespectful, and cannot be condoned in any civilised society,” the statement added. It further said that PCB’s legal advisor, Taffazul Rizvi, in his own discretion, has initiated defamation and criminal proceedings against Shoaib Akhtar, “while the PCB too reserves its rights.”
The statement comes just a day after Shoaib Akhtar blasted the cricketing board especially, PCB’s legal advisor, Taffazul Rizvi after middle order batsman Umar Akmal was banned for three years in a fixing case.
The Pakistan Bar Council has also reacted strongly to Shoaib Akhtar’s statement and directed him to be cautious.
