PTI govt debt reaches 87pc of GDP

The Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaf (PTI) government debt has increased by 45 percent in the last two years, as per the latest documents issued by the Ministry of Finance.

According to a new document released by the Ministry of Finance, government debt has reached 87pc of GDP in the last two years, while the main reason for the increase in debt is borrowing to cover the fiscal deficit.

On the other hand, according to the law, government debt should not exceed 60pc of GDP.

Prime Minister on Monday said that the economy of the country is moving in the right direction, as the Current Account posted a surplus of over$400 million in the month of July.
