The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) on Thursday has allowed local production of the raw material of chloroquine in order to cope up with the coronavirus pandemic.
The development was shared by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Dr. Zafar Mirza. The SAPM in a statement said the DRAP has also permitted clinical trials of plasma therapy for coronavirus treatment.
He informed that DRAP has also allowed the clinical trials of locally manufactured ventilators, with more than fifty companies given permission to produce sanitizers to contain the spread of the pandemic.
The companies will prepare quality sanitizers as per the directions of the World Health Organization.
As of date, the number of coronavirus cases in the country has reached 4322, the virus has taken the lives of 63 people in Pakistan.
